The spirit of Antichrist is at work in all generations, and he often works through men. One such man, Haman, sought no less than the destruction of a race. This time on No Falling Word we will continue with the second part of this message from Esther as Liam Goligher examines the rise and fall of a tyrant.

God’s providence, if we are to understand it at all, can only be understood after we’ve gone through adversity.  And so it was with Esther. She and her uncle, Mordecai could not have known the parts they would play in both the saving of their race and in the course of history.

Her Persian name, Esther, and her Hebrew name, Hadassah, remind us of the two worlds in which she lived and of the challenge we face as God’s people living in the world but not part of it. This message is the second part of "Beauty and the Beast." In it Liam Goligher examines how Esther maintained her integrity while living in the harem of the king.

It was a world of male dominance. A world where women were mere possessions—bought, sold and used for the pleasure of the king. This message will be looking at the world in which Esther found herself, how she reacted, and how one insignificant Jewish girl changed the course of history.

The presence of His absence does not mean the absence of His presence. The Book of Esther never mentions the name of God, but that doesn’t mean that God is not there. In fact, He’s the author, producer and director of the drama--always working behind the scenes, never mentioned but always present.

"And so, we came to Rome"–with those words Luke brings us to the final chapter in Paul’s journey, and an uncertain future. This week on No Falling Word, Liam Goligher will conclude his study of Acts 28. Paul finds himself under house arrest and chained to his Roman guard. The circumstances would discourage most, but he makes full use of the situation to proclaim Christ to all who will listen.  In fact, he finds such freedom in his circumstances that, despite his bonds we might ask, “just who is the prisoner?”

Sometimes we struggle with the way things work out in our lives. We want to glorify God, but surrounded by our problems we find ourselves asking, “How can God be glorified in this?” On Paul’s journey to Rome in Acts 28, everything that could possibly go wrong did go wrong. Satan had a plan to derail his ministry but God had another plan, and He used those very circumstances to further Paul’s mission.

What did Paul’s journey to Rome have in common with the voyage of the Titanic?  Both ships would be lost at sea.  As Paul’s voyage goes from turbulent to perilous, the ship’s captain ignores his advice.  But despite the appearance that all will be lost, Paul never doubts that even in the midst of storms and tribulations, God has a plan for his life and God will not desert him.

The Christian faith recognizes God as the final authority in all matters but the Christian is still submissive to earthly governments because God has established them for peace and order. Today on No Falling Word with Liam Goligher we are continuing our study of Acts Chapters 25. Festus has heard Paul’s defense and Paul has appealed to Caesar.
